American musician Prince, aka Prince Rogers Nelson, was born in 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prince achieved worldwide fame in the 1980s with the release of his albums 1999 and Purple Rain, which cemented his superstar status as the greatest singer and musician. His album Purple Rain also served as the soundtrack to the film of the same name, and the movie garnered an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score.
